Compare plans and know your limits
SrvYard has three public plans. They differ in how many of things you can have (servers, sites, organisations, team members, deployments) and in which features are switched on (the API, webhooks, teams and roles, backups, monitoring, the web terminal and AI explanations of failed deployments). Hobby is free and meant for trying SrvYard out; Pro is for developers running real applications; Business adds what teams need.
This article lays the plans side by side, explains what each limit counts so you can predict when you will reach one, says what happens when you do, and shows the two pages that tell you how close you are. Changing plan is covered in Change your plan, update payment details, invoices.
Before you begin
- Know whose plan it is. The plan belongs to the owner of the organisation, not to the organisation or to the person who is looking. Members see the limits of the owner's plan on the Usage page.
- Who can see the billing page. The Billing page needs the billing:manage permission, which only the owner role has. Admins and everybody else use the Usage page, which needs only resources:view.
- Prices are examples. The figures below are the ones on the pricing page when this article was written, in each of the three currencies. Always check your billing page for the current ones.
1. The three plans side by side
Open Settings > Billing and scroll to Change plan. Every plan is a card, and the card of your current plan is marked Current.
- GBP £ | EUR € | USD $. The currency switch above the cards (see Choose your currency). The prices below follow it.
- Monthly | Yearly. The switch above the cards. Yearly shows the price per month when you pay for twelve months at once, and the label says how much you save (17 per cent at the moment).
- Hobby. Free. "One server and a few sites, to try SrvYard."
- Pro. Marked Most popular. "For developers running real apps."
- Business. "For teams: roles, teams and API."
| Hobby | Pro | Business | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price in £ | Free | £5 a month, or £50 a year | £12 a month, or £120 a year |
| Price in € | Free | €6 a month, or €60 a year | €14 a month, or €140 a year |
| Price in $ | Free | $6 a month, or $60 a year | $15 a month, or $150 a year |
| Organisations | 1 | 3 | 10 |
| Servers | 1 | 10 | Unlimited |
| Sites | 3 | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Team members (per organisation) | 3 | 10 | Unlimited |
| Deployments per month | 100 | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| History kept | 7 days | 30 days | 90 days |
| API access, webhooks | No | Yes | Yes |
| Database backups, server monitoring | No | Yes | Yes |
| Teams and roles | No | No | Yes |
| Web terminal (coming soon) | No | No | Planned for Business |
| AI explanations of failed deployments | No | No | Yes |
The cards show a dash for a feature that is not included and a tick for one that is. A plan that cannot be bought online shows Contact sales instead of an upgrade button.
History kept is shown on the card as part of the plan. Individual features also have their own retention, which you can read in their articles: for example the activity feed keeps 14 days and the server charts keep 30 days of samples.
Choose Yearly and the cards show what a month costs when you pay for a year at once.
- Yearly. Selected. In pounds, Pro now reads £4.17 a month, "Billed £50 a year", and Business £10 a month, "Billed £120 a year". You are charged once for the whole year.
The same plans are on the public pricing page, which you can open without signing in.
- Currency and interval. The same currency switch and monthly or yearly switch. The page starts in the currency of your country and remembers your choice while you stay on the page.
- Start free. Starts the sign-up for the free Hobby plan.
Choosing a plan
Count what you have today and what you will have in six months. Start from servers and organisations, because they are the limits you reach first. Pro suits one person or a small company with up to ten servers and up to three organisations, and it keeps sites and deployments unlimited. Business is the plan to choose when more than a few people work in SrvYard and you want them to see only some servers (teams), to have roles of your own, to use the web terminal, or when you have more than ten servers. Hobby is for a first server and a few sites.
2. What each limit counts
- Organisations. The organisations you own. Organisations you were only invited to do not count. The billing page shows it as, for example, 2 of 10.
- Servers. Servers in the organisation, except archived ones. A server that is not ready yet still counts.
- Sites. Every site in the organisation.
- Team members. The members of one organisation (the card says "per organisation"). Pending invitations are not members yet.
- Deployments per month. Every deployment since the first of the month, whatever its result. The counter starts again each month.
When you ask SrvYard to do something that goes over a limit, for example create a second server on Hobby, it refuses with a message such as "Servers limit reached on your current plan. Upgrade to add more." Nothing already running is stopped or deleted.
3. Which features need which plan
A feature that is not in your plan is switched off for the whole account, and the page that uses it explains why.
- API access. Needed to create API tokens and call the API.
- Webhooks. Needed to create outgoing webhooks. See Outgoing webhooks and delivery history.
- Teams and roles. Needed for teams and custom roles. See Limit members to certain servers and sites.
- Database backups. Needed for scheduled database and file backups and for snapshots.
- Server monitoring. Needed for server monitors and their alerts. See Alert thresholds and silencing.
- Web terminal (coming soon). A terminal in the browser for servers. It is planned for the Business plan and is not available yet.
- AI explanations of failed deployments. Writes a plain-language reason for a failed deployment. It also needs to be switched on in the organisation's general settings.
4. Check how close you are
Two places show your usage. On the Usage page, the Plan quota card lists servers, sites, members and deployments against the limit of the owner's plan, and Included features says which features your plan switches on.
- Plan quota. Each line reads "used / limit", with a bar. Unlimited means no cap. Members are counted across every organisation of the account, which is why this number can be higher than the members of the organisation you are looking at.
- Included features. Included or not for backups, monitoring, teams and custom roles and the API.
The Billing page shows the same meters for the owner, together with organisations, and adds a hint when you are close to a limit, such as "You are using 9 of 10 servers. Business raises this limit." See Read the usage page for the rest of the Usage page.
Troubleshooting
- "Servers limit reached on your current plan." You have as many servers as the plan allows. Remove or archive one you do not need, or upgrade. Archived servers do not count.
- I cannot see the Billing page. Only the owner can. Ask the owner, or use Usage to see the numbers.
- The Usage page says Unlimited but a limit message appeared. Another limit was hit, such as sites or organisations. Look at the meters on the billing page to see which one is full.
- A feature page says it is not included. Check the plan table above. Teams and roles and AI explanations are Business features, and the web terminal will be once it ships.
- A downgrade is refused. You use more than the smaller plan allows. See Change your plan for how to read the list.
- Contact sales instead of Upgrade. That plan cannot be bought online from your account. Use the link to ask SrvYard.
